Built on Tradition Delivered with Integrity
Family Farmed Since 1965
As a trusted family-owned agricultural business, Kahler Hay has proudly supplied San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Monterey County residents with premium livestock hay, horse hay, and ranch feed for decades.
Since 1965, when Albert Kahler founded the family ranch in Santa Margarita, California, the Kahler family has been dedicated to providing farmers, ranchers, and horse owners with the highest-quality feed and reliable agricultural harvesting & hauling services.
After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2010, Albert’s grandson — Tim Kahler, continued the family’s legacy, serving the Central Coast’s agricultural community with the same time-tested hay production and hauling methods perfected over their family’s generations.

MEET THE FARMER
As a born and raised San Luis Obispo County local and a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo alum, agriculture, horses, and livestock have always been a central part of my life.
Kahler Hay is more than a business to me—it’s a family legacy that began in 1965, when my grandfather Albert Kahler founded our ranch in Santa Margarita. Growing up, I learned the hay and harvesting trade hands-on from my grandfather and my dad, gaining generations of practical knowledge rooted in hard work, care for the land, and doing things the right way.
After graduating from Cal Poly in 2010, I was proud to continue thatlegacy, serving farmers, ranchers, and horse owners throughout San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Monterey Counties with the same time-tested methods our family has relied on for decades.
I’m passionate about producing quality hay, supporting local agriculture, and building long-term relationships with our customers. From pasture to pasture, every load reflects the pride we take in our work.
Thank you for choosing and supporting our small, family-run business!
